Variable Force

When we are required to gauge just how much force to use we rely on proprioception. When the door does not respond to our initial push, reaching gingerly for a glass of water by the bed in the dark we become aware of proprioception. Proprioception reveals itself nervously, saying "you don't know what you are doing", because you don't: most of the time your body takes care of it for you. Squeeze and scrunch, stretch and press, measured pressure and controlled manipulation help develop that easy relationship between body and sense.
